Dear McGregor High School Families,

Welcome to the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year at McGregor High School.  We are currently a Recognized campus by the Texas Education Agency.  Our goal this year is to raise our test scores even higher.  I am aware that this is an ambitious goal, but I believe that if we work together as a cohesive team of Parents, Teachers, Counselors, Administrators, and most importantly Students, we can achieve anything.  The Texas Education Agency describes the relationship between McGregor High School and our parents as a “partnership” and we look forward to working together in order that your students may reach their full potential.

As your Principal, you should know that I believe all students can learn; however all students do not learn in the same way.  That is where the artistry of teaching comes in.  It will be our goal to learn as much about your individual student as possible and to meet them right where they are in order to teach them all the things they need to learn to be successful in life, now and in their future.

I would encourage each of our students to get involved while they are here at MHS.  They need to find a place where they can contribute, meet friends, and enjoy the overall experience that MHS has to offer. We have many different organizations in which our students can become involved,including Band, Drill Team, FFA, FCA, Art, Theater Arts, UIL Competition, and numerous Athletic Teams that proudly represent the community of McGregor.  We believe our school has a proud tradition of academic excellence, as well as an outstanding history of competition in athletics, band, drill team, and our award winning art program.  Research indicates that students who become involved in extracurricular activities seem to perform better in the classroom, as well as in their future academic pursuits and adulthood. 

Communication between MHS and the parents of our students is critical to our success, and the success of your kids.  Please do not hesitate to contact me personally, along with any of our administrative staff, counselors, or teachers, if there is anything we can do to help.  I look forward to another great year at MHS.  It is an honor and a privilege to serve as your Principal.
