The purpose of Golden Flame Dance Team shall be to entertain and promote school spirit, to establish dignity in ourselves and our school, and to encourage responsibility and self-discipline in every member.
My personal goal as director is to encourage the following qualities in every Golden Flame: good manners, mature and responsible behavior, a cooperative attitude, and an awareness of fulfilling ones's obligations. I do not feel that we have had a successful year unless I can look at each member and see significant improvements in these areas. After all, if they learn to work and play with a widely different personality group, then it will all be worth the effort.
I look forward to working with the Flames and their parents during a success-filled year.

The following young ladies were selected as members of the Varsity Flames and the JV Flames.
Officers for the upcoming year are: Alishia Betts, captain; Adrian Bourassa and Gloria Hernandez, lieutenants;
Returning team members are Elvia Barrera, Tristine Jackson, and Daisy Perez ; plus new members: Jazmyne
Mims-Drake, Rachel Taylor, Diana Castillo, Hannah Lightfoot, Yosalin Licea, Kristen Olvera, Alejandra Suarez,
Brandy Wood, Yatrizi Rebollar, Deanna Torres, and Ana Licea.

UPCOMING EVENTS FOR 2011-12
Flames will perform at MCC on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at 7:00 p.m.
MCC Dance Co. will be presenting a "Preview for Nationals', as they make final preparations for
their nationals competition the first week of April. The Golden Flames have been invited to perform
at this event, along with several other area HS dance teams.
Flames will be performing at two HS Baseball games: Thursday, April 5th and Tuesday, April 17th.
Come out to support Bulldog Baseball and see the Flames perform during the 4th inning.
SHOW-OFF NIGHT on Thursday, MAY 3rd, 2012
The Golden Flames are preparing for their annual Show-Off Night on Thurs., May 3rd.
Show-Off Night will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the HS Gym. The Flames will perform their award-
winning contest routines, as well as favorite routines from the year. Along with this year's team,
the 2012-13 members and officers will be performing. There will also be performances by members of McGregor's
"Let's Dance" Sudio and by MHS band ensembles and solos, presenting their UIL State Competition music.
In additiion, speciality numbers performed by MHS students will be highlighted.
Flames were Guest Performancers at McGregor's "Got Talent" Event on Sat., March 24th at 6:00 p.m.
This event is a community talent show. Proceeds from the event benefit McGregor's Relay for Life.
The Flames performed four dances during the show.
Flames performed at Showtime International's Central Texas Dance Contest at Belton HS
on Saturday, Feb. 25th, 2012. All routines performed by soloists, officers, and team received 1st-Divsion
ratings. The Flames were awarded Grand Champions in the extra-Small Team Divison.
Alishia Betts and Adrian Bourassa performed solos, each earning 1st-Division ratings. In the officer
competition, Alishia Betts and Gloria Hernandez performed two routines. They performed a 20's Novelty
to "Nitty Gritty" and a Contemporary Lyrical to "Halo", receiving 1st-Division ratings on each.
In the teamcompetition, the Flames performed four routines: a Jazz to "More", a Military to "Drummin'", a
Modern to "inside the Tornado", and a Pom to "Pitbull Remix". Each routine received a 1st-Division rating,
Judges Award (scores of 92 and above from all judges), and a Sweepstakes Trophy.
The team and officer routines also were awarded 'BEST IN CLASS' routines in the extra-Small Team
Division (teams of 10 or fewer).
FLAMES performed at the MCC Contest on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, held in the Highland's Gym at
McLennan Community College, Waco. The Officers received 2nd-Divsion rating on their Contemporary
Jazz to "Halo". Soloists Alishia Betts and Adrian Bourassa received 2nd-Division ratings. The team
performed two routines: Jazz to "More" and Modern to "Inside the Tornado". They received 1st-Division
ratings on each.
FLAMES performed at NOON during Founder's Day Activities.
Their performance area will be at the intersection of 4th and Main.
The Flames will perform with MCC Dance Co. from McLennan Community College.
SPARKS CAMP was held on Saturday, Oct. 8th at the HS Gym.
Spark Participants performed the following Friday at the McGregor vs Troy Football Game.
The cost is $25.00, which includes a T-shirt to be worn for the game performance.
